Crime against businesses makes up 20% of all reported crime.
It is claimed that on average each small business loses £13,500 per annum due to crime every year. And two thirds of businesses are victims of crime every year.
These numbers could be much higher in reality though as less than half of small businesses actually report it.
More work needs to be done to both encourage businesses to report crime and for the police to deal with these problems at a local level.
