The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) says that small firms are becoming more optimistic about their financial prospects.
A survey shows that sentiment amongst small retailers is starting to improve from the low point at the end of 2008. 23% are now noticing an increase in trade compared with 16% in February.
Costs & availability of finance, a significant problem for up to 40% of survey participants in late 2008, is only a problem for 25% now - indicating the long awaited increase in bank lending.
Smaller firms tend to be more dynamic and flexible and the optimism they are experiencing is hopefully a sign of some "green shoots" in the economy.
