This 10% sales growth has even eclipsed the sales growth of supermarkets.
The growth has not been equal across all categories though. Alcohol sales were up 12%, pet care products 17% and laundry 30%.
Some part of this is doubtless due to the bad snow towards the end of the year and many consumers walking to their local shop rather than driving to the supermarket. However, the trend is positive and great news for independent retailers.
