In a provisional ruling, The National Lottery Commission (NLC) has turned down Camelot's bid to let lottery retailers use their terminals to process bill payments.
This has sparked a war of words between PayPoint the incumbent bill payment processor and Camelot. Both parties are claiming they have the majority of retail opinion on their side supporting the respective views - Camelot trying to get a foot in the lucrative bill payment market and PayPoint vigoursly defending its position arguing that it would be anticompetitive for Camelot to provide bill payment services.
